Arab states must adapt

Global warming experts in Beirut have warned Arab states to find a way to address climate change or face "catastrophic" consequences.
Delegates were at a workshop to prepare Arab countries to engage in negotiations on the International Climate treaty that will supercede the Kyoto protocol in 2012. The Protocol is considered inadquate and scientists are pushing for stricter measures.
Wael Hmaidan, ED of the activists' network IndyACT said, "Most Arab governments are unaware that one of the most important treaties in the history of the planet is being drafted. This treaty is considered as our last chance to save the planet from climate change. We don't have the political will to solve this. Most Arab countries are not making this a priority."
Professor Nadim Farajalla, head of the Issam Fares Institute's new climate change think tank, warned that failure to meet the challenges posed by global warming could be disastrous...
