Indias Sibal wants local action

India's Union Minister for Science and Technology Kapil Sibal has asked for local solutions to climate change, saying that while there should be international cooperation to address the problem, there is no single global strategy for it.
Sibal spoke at the Climate Change: Business Sustainability and Society conference organized by ASSOCHAM and the Times Foundation.
He said, "When a global business comes into a country, it must do so with the determination to partner with the country into which it is coming to set up business, to solve the problem of global warming. In the course of this partnership, the global company must identify local issues and solutions for them.
What steps should be taken and what strategies needed to be worked out are a national-level effort. Then we can ensure that communities are taken on board."
