Dear Reader:
I am no writer or media person. I do not even have any degree in mass communication. I am a Software Engineer who happened to be a good orator in her student career and still loves to take the chance of becoming a spokesperson or a narrator whenever possible.
I would love to be a part of your magazine as a spokesperson but I really do not know how to go forward with my interest.
I also compile write ups which may not be any extraordinary work of imagination or some kind of magical play of words but are parts of harsh realities of problems faced by our society today and have been felt by my heart. I would like to share some of them with you.
I had got the chance to be a part of Project Anjali which is a camp and platform for performance and growth for the so called physically handicapped people whom I would like to refer as ‘Differentially Able’ people. I saw two girls who were visually impaired and were moving across the various stalls with their caretaker. Their caretaker was explaining the surrounding to them. They were smiling, had a spark in them and were so happy to be part of this beautiful world even if they could not see it. Why can’t we people with proper vision understand the beauty of our world? Why can’t we see the tears in the eyes of the other species of living creatures sharing the same planet as we do when we pollute our living space? Why can’t we understand the plea of the underwater beings when we litter garbage into the water bodies? Why are we creating situations for ourselves where we will not be able to show our future generations the wide range of flora and fauna available on the face of Earth as they will be extinct? Why can’t we feel the pain of the baby animals taken away from their mothers and away from their natural habitat just because we can get a space for our Industrialization?
There was another instance where a boy who was lacking one of his legs came to me and asked the way to the water stall. I offered him my bottle of water thinking that he will not have to take the pain of walking to the water stall but what I failed to understand with my sane mind is that they do not need our sympathy rather they need our support. Let us be strong enough to just put our hands together to form such a human chain that can stand against any kind of natural calamities or terrorism not as people of some particular region or country rather people of one beautiful and stunning planet - Mother Earth and be supportive to people who are in any kind of need across the world.
I was also fortunate enough to learn to be thankful for all the things I have been blessed with when I saw some deaf boys and girls jumping with joy for very small cups of ice creams given to them by their caretaker. When we get something we do not thank for the things we have got rather we keep on cursing for not getting bigger and better things in all aspects of life - physical, social, economical, professional etc.
The above lines are not to grab any attention or so rather they are the burdens we carry on our shoulders in the name of self development not bothering whether the things we do are right or wrong, whether they will hurt someone or not but what we fail to understand is that the divine power that guards us is our own conscience. There is no pillow as soft as a clear conscience. At the end of the day can we stand tall in front of our conscience and justify ourselves to this divine power? When we do things wrong, everything else may feel good but the only thing that hurts is our conscience. We, Homo sapiens are at the highest level of our ecosystem blessed with the most matured and evolved brain have forgotten our role in the society and have become so self centered that we do not understand the importance of our beautiful lives. Please give it a thought and be more than a man - be a human.
‘Heaven lies in the cranium of the cave of love and hell lies in the unawareness of thoughts generated in love.
So, if you want to be in heaven be in love with all the creatures sharing the same planet as you do.’
