Very few cities in Europe can compete with Paris as a romantic destination; with over 30 million foreign visitors annually it is a very popular destination. For most people visiting Paris, a short stay is often the way they first see the city; most people promise to return as so much they wanted to see will have been missed.
It is famous for many famous buildings and locations; it is the home of the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and many other famous tourist attractions. Visitors to Paris as well as its citizens can travel around Paris easily; the Metro underground system is easy to understand, efficient and reaches everywhere even the most enthusiastic tourist would want to visit.
You can't miss the Eiffel Tower, mainly because it's over three hundred meters high; it provides stunning views from the top and is visible throughout most of the city. At night, it comes alive with lights that have to be seen to be believed; if you are really enthusiastic you can take a tour where the guide will tell you how this beautiful tower was built.
On your Paris trip ensure you add the famous Champs Elysees to your list of places to visit; it will present you with many famous designer shops and good restaurants. When you visit this region of the city you will see it is a much more select area; most of the five star hotels are located here but more affordable hotels can be found further out.
The world famous Louvre museum is in this city; it holds in excess of 300,000 pieces of art, which cannot possibly be seen in a single visit. It would be easy for anyone on a Paris short stay vacation to spend all their time here; many of the world's art collections are housed here, which includes the renowned ‘Mona Lisa'. Many well known artists spent years of their lives in Paris; these include Monet and Picasso who very fortunately left some of their work here for all to enjoy.
Paris is also the home of the equally famous Arc de Triomphe which Napoleon had constructed in the early part of the 19th century; to honor his generals (and his troops) he had their names inscribed upon it. The Arc is the focal point of the city and contains an observatory to view the local area; it stands in the place where the city's main avenues begin including the Champs Elysees.
This city has a huge variety of places to visit, many of these have not even mentioned here; although no trip would be complete without seeing these, they are probably best viewed as part of a guided tour, some of which are actually free. A Paris short stay vacation will probably be best suited as just a taster of the city; those attractions that cannot be seen will still be there the next time you visit.
