Cornell University researchers have claimed that warming in the Artic is the worst in the last 5 centuries and has triggered a 'regime shift' in North Atlantic ecosystems.
The scientists studied fresh water from melting ice in the Canadian Archipelago and Fram Strait to see its effect on marine life and ocean currents. They found that there had been many changes in the earth's climate over the last 65 million years.
However, lead authour oceanographer Professor Charles Greene insists, "The rate of warming we are seeing is unprecedented in human history."
