Samoa is set to host the first climate change training facility in the Pacific.
Faumuina Tiatia Liuga, the country's Environment Minister made the announcement at the Pacific Climate Change Roundtable in Apia, Samoa's capital.
He said the Samoan government offered 60 acres of land for the proposed facility that will be established near the Secretariat of the Pacific Environment Program (SPREP) and the United Nations organizations.
The Minister expected the climate change hub to become of immense importance to the region and urged the regional delegates to support the initiative.
"It will be a global facility for research and development, training and sharing of information on climate change, right here in the Pacific. In Samoa, climate change has been mainstreamed into its national policies. We are working to see the linkages between climate change, health and agriculture," said Faumuina...
